Today was the day that Sephiroth was taking you somewhere special as a surprise.

As soon as he broke the news to you, you hugged him tight enough to break his ribs. The naga chuckled and peeled you off of him. Since you had been penned in the cave due to unsavory weather, he had decided that taking you outside would do wonders for your mood. Of course, he did not expect you to smother him in kisses and cuddle aggressively with him every day leading up to today.

Not that he didn't like it.

When today finally rolled around, you actually got up earlier than he did (even though he was sleeping in today.) You bounced up and down at the entrance of the cave like an excited puppy until he gathered the energy to get up. When he finally got up, the naga smiled, ruffled you hair playfully, and bent down to nuzzle you before leading you out of the cave.

Even though it was early in the morning, you could tell that it was going to be a beautiful day. It was going to be warm, but not too hot or sunny. And best of all, not humid and muggy.

"Look!" You chirped, pointing up into the trees. Your eyes had caught a small, spotted cat moving in the branches. It looked cute, even with its large, even watching you. It soon scurried off into the trees and hid.

"Aww, it was so cute!" I wish I had one..." Sephiroth acknowledged your comment with a hum and continued leading you in the direction of your unknown destination (well, unknown on your part.)

After walking through the jungle for some time, Sephiroth had a most unusual request, "Close your eyes."

"What?" You asked, cocking your head to the side.

"I did tell you that it was going to be a surprise. So, close your eyes." He smirked. Gosh, he was always such a tease. You complied and closed your eyes, giggling a little.

"How am I supposed to find my way there if I can't see?" You giggled before yelping as you were literally swept off of your feet and into his arms. Still managing to keep your eyes closed, you burst into laughter before curling up against his chest.

He moved father into the jungle from where you had to close your eyes, and gently set you down onto soft grass, making sure to steady you. The grass was very tall, and almost tickled. You hadn't felt or seen grass this long in the jungle before.

"You can open your eyes now."

You started to open your eyes, but the sun was so bright you had to close them again. Upon re-opening them, you were greeted by a large, open space filled with tall grasses and flowers.

Sephiroth had taken you to a meadow.

Before you lost control, you jumped up to give the naga a quick hug and a 'thank you' before running off into field. The sweet scents of the meadow filled your nose as you frolicked and tumbled everywhere. You felt like the queen of the field. Eventually, you found a patch of [F/C] flowers to settle down in. A familiar shadow fell over you and a few giggles bubbled up. It must have been the millionth time you had looked into his aqua orbs, but they were still so beautiful. You started to give him signals by nuzzling him, and giving his affection. It was just the system both of you had come up with to tell him that you wanted  a kiss, as he was still learning affection. He gave you that loving smile that made your heart flutter before leaning in to press his lips against yours. He was always gentle, only going farther when you wanted it, or he got bolder with his actions. You broke off only for a moment before reconnecting your lips with his. A strong arm wrapped around your waist, and you cupped his cheeks in response. The two of you tangled in the tall grasses and flowers as the kiss deepened.

You wound up cuddling in the flower patch, the warm rays of the sun radiating off of your skin. Perfectly content, you wore your hands through the naga's argent tresses while he kept you close to him.

"I have an idea!" You suddenly piped up, scurrying off to collect as many kinds and colors of flowers you could find. Sephiroth was going to follow you to see what you were doing, but decided against it to leave you to your own devices. You got on your hands and knees to scrutinize each and every flower to see which ones were the best ones. No wilted ones would do!

After collecting an impressive sum of flora, you sat down to get to work. You started by grabbing some green, sturdy, long grass and started to work the flowers into it. The naga soon grew curious and looked over your shoulder to see what you were doing. Noticing that Sephiroth was prying, you hunched over your work to keep him from seeing your progress.

"I don't understand why you feel the need to be so secretive." He snickered, placing his chin in his palm as if in thought about what you could possibly be making.

"Because it's a surprise!" You snapped, "I'll be done soon!" The naga smiled and nuzzled you, causing you to laugh a little. He was more than happy to sunbathe while you worked on your little surprise. Finding an open and sunny place, he sprawled out comfortably. He sighed deeply as he fell into a euphoric, relaxed state.

It had been about fifteen minutes since Sephiroth had left you alone. The hybrid was quite happy until a shadow rudely blocked the sun from warming him.

"I would have preferred you have gotten my attention without stopping the sun, _____." He teased playfully.

"Keep your eyes closed!" You instructed, starting to smooth out his hair. He flinched slightly as you started to work something onto his head.

"You can open your eyes now!" You chirped, giddy with excitement. The naga opened his eyes, his slits changing size as they took in more light. He was immediately drawn to the detail on top of your head.

    "_____, what are you wearing?"

"A flower crown! I gave you one too. That way, we can be the king and queen!" His was a little less girly than yours, only having daises and some smaller, colorful flowers. Yours had big, bright flowers, with some small white ones.

"What exactly are we the king and queen of?" He asked, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Well, this jungle, maybe." You suggested, rolling around in the grass. "Or maybe, you're the king of nagas, or snakes."

"I can't help but feel that you're being silly." The hybrid commented, stroking your hair.

"Of course I'm being silly!" You blurted out. "It's fun to pretend.

"Well, what do you want to pretend we are next?"

"I still think that I want us to be the king and queen. But, we have just finished a long day of work, and will retire to our royal chambers."  You showed Sephiroth the spot you had in mind by gesturing with your shoulder. It was a small patch of flowers (they looked like lilies to you) under the shade of a large tree. Complying with your request, he collected you in his arms and slithered over to the spot. He laid you down gently, resting you on his coils so no plants would poke you. In turn, you curled up against his chest. The tree provided cool shade, and the flowers gave off a sweet scent. You let your eyelids fall as you cuddled up to your naga boyfriend. One little nap couldn't hurt.

You awoke to a sound that wasn't Sephiroth's heart beats. But it was like them, in the idea that it was steady and never ending. By how warm the air was, and how warm you were, you could guess that it was the late afternoon. You were curious, but not curious enough to move from your comfortable position in the naga's embrace.

    Well, until your stomach growled.

Starting a fire wouldn't be a problem, there was plenty of fuel, and safe spaces to have one. There was also plenty of ways to make sparks to start a fire. Finding food was a bigger trouble.

Your hearing steadily cleared over the passing minutes, and you were finally able to discern the sound. It was water. It wasn't like the thunderous roar of a waterfall, but more like a gentle stream flowing over rocks.

That sounded like an entirely new adventure.

Wriggling out of Sephiroth's arms, you took off your flower crown so as not to dirty it. You walked a short way behind the tree to the brook. It was surrounded by a slightly sandy embankment. The water itself looked to be halfway under knee-deep. Taking off your socks and shoes, you rolled up your jeans, so as not to get them wet. Carefully, you slid down the embankment and hopped into the water. The brook was nice and cold. You splashed around a bit, looking for anything of interest.

You half-yelped half-giggled when you felt something nibbling on your toes. Looking down, you saw some decent-sized fish playfully biting at your feet, trying to figure out what you were.

    Hey, they could be lunch!

Standing perfectly still, you watched the fish, trying to see how they behaved. Then, in one, fell swoop, you dashed your hands into the water to get a handful of fish. Unfortunately, the little, scaly buggers proved to themselves to be a little too fast for you. Not ready to give up, you continued to chase the fish around. However, they were all to prepared to outwit you. All the splashing had eventually convinced Sephiroth to come and check on you.

"_____, what are you doing?" He asked, peering over the embankment.

"I'm trying to catch these fish, but they're really fast, and stubborn." You pouted, trying to catch the fish off guard.

"I believe that I can be of assistance." He chuckled, slithering into the creek. He used his tail to dam the brook, and prevented the fish. Sephiroth watched in amusement as you chased after the fish for the last time.

Finally, you had two flopping fish in your arms. Very proud of yourself you put them on top of the bank.

"Do you need me to catch any for you?" You offered.

"No thank you, _____. I'll catch my dinner myself." Sephiroth said, scouting the brook for whatever he was going to eat. You scaled the embankment (making sure not to get dirty) and collected your two prizes. You started to look for a safe place to have a fire, and found a small patch of dirt. After setting your fish down on some firewood. You remember that you had left your flower crown by the tree, and quickly scampered off to get it.

By some miracle of nature, you managed to get a small fire going, and were happily waiting for your fish to cook. The sky was slowly being painted with colors of red, orange, and gold as the sun set. While you were waiting, Sephiroth popped his head up over the embankment, and worked his way towards you.

"Where have you been?" You inquired, noticing the naga was absolutely soaked.

"Hunting." He replied curtly, "I usually don't eat fish, but you appeared to have inspired me. "The naga curled up behind you, but allowed his tail to hang in front to absorb some of the warmth from the fire.

"For someone who is so protective of me, I'm surprised that you left me alone while it was getting dark out." You pointed out, teasing him.

"I could very well smother you with my coils to keep you safe, if that is what you wish." He chuckled darkly, wrapping his arms tightly around your middle.

"Someone's a little overprotective." You giggled, starting to munch on your fish.

"I have to be, with you." He murmured, resting his chin on your shoulder. You actually liked how protective he was, but, he could go overboard, sometimes. You figured it was just naga instinct, and let it slide.

Despite the fact that your fish had little flavor and were pretty bony, it was pretty good. So good, in fact, that you didn't realize that you had eaten both of them until you had bitten into a bone. You laid back against Sephiroth's chest, looking up at the darkening sky, "I wonder if there will be a lot of stars out tonight. I haven't stargazed in so long."

    "Stargazed?" Sephiroth asked.

"It's when you go out at night just to look at the stars, and look at how beautiful they are." In the middle of your sentence, you thought you saw a hint of a yellow-green light flickering in the corner of your eye. A few seconds later, you saw the same light again, but this time, it was farther away. You knew what it was.

"Fireflies!" You squealed, hopping up to chase after them. Quickly finding one, you clasped your hands around it to trap it. You watch it light up your hands before you let it go.

"You seem to be running with a theme where you run off at the slightest opportunity for something new to happen." Sephiroth commented, poking at a few fireflies himself.

"It's just how I operate." You smiled, prancing in the field with the fireflies. Catching and releasing what must have been hundreds, you finally sat down just to watch them glow against the skies and the stars. You shivered, it was a little chilly out. You yelped when something warm brushed up against you. But you soon recognized the familiar touch, you knew it was Sephiroth.

"Cold?" He smirked, settling his tail around your legs.

"Not when you're around, you're like a portable heater!" You settled back into his coils, happy to be with him again. Grealy enjoying the warmth that radiated from the naga, you gazed up into the starry sky.

"I wish I knew what all of these human words you say meant." He sighed, resting his head on top of yours. The two of you remained in your positions, stargazing, for quite some time, before you yawned rather loudly.

"Are you ready to go back to the cave?" He asked, noticing that you were growing tired.

"Just a little longer, please?" You begged sleepily, cuddling up against his chest. He complied with your wish, hardly able to resist a plea like that. You pointed out stars that you found particularly beautiful, constellations, shooting stars, and anything else in the beautiful night sky.

"_____, I'm happy that you enjoyed today. I know that you've been wanting to explore the rest of my territory, so I though this would be something good for you."

    "______?"

You had managed to get Sephiroth so wrapped up in stargazing, that he had failed to notice that you had fallen asleep. Contently nestled in his tail and arms with a happy smile on your face. He was drawn to the flower crown that still remained wound around your head. The naga couldn't help the small chuckle that he made, bending down to kiss you cheek. He reared up on his tail so he could move again, picking you up in his arms like you were his bride. He moved slowly, making sure not to disturb your slumber, and started back towards the cave.

    "Sweet dreams, flower queen."
LOOK WHO'S WRITING AGAIN :U

My reader-inserts are so spaced out, it's weird. I'm not super happy with this installment, but it's cute.
